What is the Artist Directory?​
The Melfort Arts Council Artist Directory is an online “matchmaking” Directory, that is intended to help Melfort community and surrounding area's artists and creators to connect with business opportunities through client inquiries. The Artist Directory features short descriptions of the work of participating artists and creators, as well as sample thumbnail images, audio and/or video of work, and short artist biographies.​
The information you provide in your artist listing will be public and shared with individuals and businesses interested in hiring, renting or procuring art and other creative talent and services. This information will be updated annually.

What does the Artist Directory Include?
Every Artist listed in the Directory has a listing that links to a landing page which includes:​

Name, and/or alias/stage name, and/or business name.

Business contact information including any website or social media links.

Up to 5 images, 2 audio and/or 1 video of their practice/performance.

Description of their artistic practice in the form of a short artist biography (limited to 1250 characters).

Any specializations or offerings of the artist (optional)

What information is included?
​The Melfort Arts Council will ask for business contact information.
The Directory will be searchable by discipline:

Individual Visual artist

Artist group/collective
-
Individual Performing Artist

Performing Artist Group
Melfort Arts Council will also require examples of your work in the form of images (5 max), audio(2 max) and/or video (1 max), submitted with titles. These images will be watermarked to protect them from theft.
Each person involved in the Artist Directory has the option to provide an alias or stage name and/or business name. However, their legal name and personal contact information will also be needed for back-end record keeping and updating. In addition, there is the option to choose which name is displayed in the Artist Directory as their primary name.

How will you protect my work from theft?​
Melfort Arts Council will not use images and video provided by artists for this project for anything other than the creation, maintenance and promotion of the Artist Directory. The images used will be low enough resolution that will not allow for duplication. Melfort Arts Council will watermark all images.

Will Melfort Arts Council charge a fee for sales/business facilitated through the Directory?
​No. Businesses and clients who access the Artist Directory will contact artists or their representatives directly and negotiate fees directly with the artist or their representatives.
Melfort Arts Council’s role is to provide this “matchmaking” service through the Artist Directory to our tenants, owners and members. We will not take part in the negotiation process, nor charge any fee from the rental/sale/procurement of any art pieces or commissions resulting from the matchmaking process.

What about privacy concerns?​
Melfort Arts Council will not share personal information collected for the Artist Directory with outside organizations.
Melfort Arts Council will act as a “matchmaker” between artists, other artists and potential patrons, meaning that when we are approached by a client or company with requests for work from the North East area of Saskatchewan, we will share the URL of the website with them. Clients will contact artists directly using the information provided in the Artist Directory. All negotiations will be between the artist.

Guidelines for submitting images for artists:
Attach up to 5 images (maximum 25MB)
Image file types: JPG, PNG, GIF, JPEG​

When submitting photos:
​Label each file with the title of the work submitted. This will ensure that the proper name will appear with your image.
Do not put any special characters or symbols or quotation mark in the file name.

When submitting an audio file:
Attach up to 1 audio file (maximum 50MB)
Audio file types: MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, WMA, AAC, AIF and AIFF
