Description
Born in Swan River, SK and moved to Melfort at a young age, I started creating art from the inspiration of my grandmother’s beautiful landscape paintings. Gaining some formal education in the Fine Arts expanded my skills and knowledge and appreciation of art greatly. My preferred methods are painting and drawing but I have grown to include collage, digital media and photography into my artmaking practice. My art consists mainly of figurative subject matter, but I do work with a variety of different concepts and subjects, some being various depictions of nature, landscapes, and interior and exterior spaces. Majority of my work deals with themes of the human figure, human emotions, the relationship between the mind and body and the examination into the ideal of beauty. I’m also interested in the inner workings of the subconscious and dream interpretation. I find much inspiration from pop culture, counterculture and found images. I draw a lot of my inspirations and influences from art history, such as neoclassical sculptures and surrealist paintings. My art practice is not yet concrete; my style, techniques, mediums, and personal influences continue to grow and change, and I’m learning more about myself and my art as I evolve as a yo
